Located inside Barbara Khourie’s Black Belt Karate Studio in Mounds, Illinois
My client for this project contacted me on the street while painting USS Cairo. She has worked with Southern Illinois youth all her life and is a black belt in Karate herself. She runs a training center near her home and desired it to feel professional and inspiring. She gave me free reign of her studio during non-course hours and I chose to paint 13th and 14th century Japanese and Chinese art. I have a found affection for Asia and their artistic history and enjoyed painting this piece and getting to witness and encourage a strong business owner, discipler, and leader in southern Illinois.
