The Story of Cairo

I was invited by the same teacher that invited me to paint the USS Cairo to continue working with her to begin a mural project on the levee wall in town.  There is not much by the way of visual aesthetics in this dilapidated but recovering community.  This mural was to be the first of many, visually depicting and telling the story of Cairo.  The surrounding communities of Cape Girardeau, MO and Paducah, KY have similar finished projects in place in these riverfront communities.  Having already painted the USS Cairo, the City Commissioners gave the go ahead for this project to begin.  Included in the group before hand is the teacher that hired me and the mayor of the city.
